LASCON charts new course for growth

The Lagos state college of Nursing has concluded a 3 day strategic retreat for its senior and management staff, setting a new direction for institutional growth, workforce efficiency, and improved service delivery.
The retreat, held at Royal Orchid Hotel, brought together key leaders of the College to review priorities and develop forward looking strategies aimed at strengthening organisational effectiveness and enhancing performance.
The Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, in his opening speech represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, described the initiative as a vital step toward positioning the College to meet evolving demands in both the education and healthcare sectors.
Kasali stressed the need for adaptability and continuous development, noting that the modern workforce must embrace growth to remain relevant explaining that the retreat served as an interactive platform to foster collaboration, strengthen professional relationships, and encourage open dialogue among participants.
According to him, deliberations at the retreat would culminate in the development of Strategic Institutional Objectives (SIOs) and practical frameworks to tackle operational challenges, adding that outcomes from the sessions would serve as templates for institutional operations.
He commended the leadership of the Provost for improved institutional management and stronger stakeholder engagement, while also acknowledging the support of in advancing tertiary education in the state.
Also speaking, the representative of the Chairman of the Governing Council, Mrs. Kemi Salau, described the retreat as timely and essential, urging participants to embrace change as a pathway to growth and innovation.
In her welcome address, the Provost, Dr. Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa, said the retreat provided an opportunity to deepen collaboration, align institutional goals, and build a productive work culture.
She expressed confidence that the outcomes of the engagement would further position the College as a leading institution recognised for academic excellence and a supportive work environment.
Participants at the end of the retreat reaffirmed their commitment to implementing strategies and initiatives developed during the sessions, with a focus on improving institutional efficiency and workforce effectiveness.
The College had earlier organised a one-day strategic retreat for junior staff on Grade Levels 1 to 8 on April 10, 2026, as part of its broader effort to promote inclusive capacity development and build a resilient workforce.
