Police arrest two over alleged role in Kwara kidnapping

The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly facilitating the kidnapping of three persons in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The Command said the arrests were part of its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and other violent crimes, stressing that efforts were ongoing to dismantle criminal networks and bring all those connected with such activities to justice.

The suspects, identified as Sauni Shehu and Auwalu Bala, are being investigated for alleged criminal conspiracy, aiding and abetting kidnapping, and kidnapping.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the suspects were arrested following intelligence-led investigations that linked them to the abduction of three victims at Ogele Fulani Camp, via Igbaja, in Ifelodun Local Government Area.

The statement noted that the suspects were assisting investigators with useful information to aid efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.

Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes through intelligence-led policing.

He said the Command remained focused on advancing the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, which prioritises proactive crime prevention and the protection of lives and property.

The police commissioner urged residents of the state to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable information.

He assured the public that all intelligence received would be professionally utilised to strengthen ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.
