Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang has recently conducted visits to the Nding community in Barkin Ladi and Ngbrazongo village in Bassa Local Government Areas to reassure residents of their safety following a series of tragic killings.
During these visits, the Governor met with survivors, widows, and children, emphasizing that the life of every citizen is precious and promising that the perpetrators will be tracked down and brought to justice.
Accompanying the Governor was the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Bernard Doro, who pledged Federal Government support for relief and recovery efforts.
The Minister described the recurring cycles of violence as unacceptable and stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility in protecting vulnerable communities.
In a direct response to the security challenges, Governor Mutfwang announced several new restrictive measures intended to curb conflict and enhance surveillance.
He officially banned all night mining activities across the state, mandating that operations must conclude by 5:00 p.m. daily.
Additionally, the Governor imposed a ban on night grazing and prohibited the use of underage herders for livestock management.
He urged parents and cattle owners to take full responsibility for their animals to prevent further friction.
While calling for an increased security presence ahead of the farming season, Mutfwang also appealed to the media to report responsibly, maintaining that Plateau remains a destination for peace and tourism despite the recent setbacks.
