Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday administered the oath of office to Kadi Tijanni J. Zololo as Acting Grand Kadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Jos. The ceremony took place at the Rayfield New Government House in Jos.

Governor Mutfwang described the swearing-in as a significant step in strengthening the state’s judiciary and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building an independent and efficient justice system.

He emphasised that justice must remain anchored in truth, noting that the Sharia Court plays a crucial role in family law, inheritance, and asset distribution within the Islamic faith.

The governor urged judicial officers to uphold honesty and integrity, warning against allowing personal interests to obstruct justice.

He also highlighted ongoing reforms, including the recent recommendation of six High Court judges by the National Judicial Council, the transition to digital processes, and the establishment of the Plateau State Law Reform Commission to update outdated legislation.

In response, Acting Grand Kadi Zololo thanked God and Governor Mutfwang for the appointment, expressing gratitude for the support received following the demise of his predecessor.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, senior government officials, members of the judiciary, and traditional and religious leaders.
