A former Commissioner for Political Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations in Osun State under the administration of immediate past Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Hon. Taiwo Akeju, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Akeju announced his decision in a resignation letter dated June 4, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Ward 01, Iwara, in the Atakumosa East Local Government Area of Osun State.

In the letter, the former commissioner stated that his resignation takes immediate effect, describing the decision as a personal one reached after a careful review of his political journey.

The letter reads in part: “I hereby resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress. Please note that this resignation takes immediate effect. This decision is personal and taken after a careful review of my political journey.”

The resignation adds to the growing list of political shifts ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State, as political parties continue to experience realignments and defections.
