Labour Party conducts Anambra primaries, elects National Assembly candidates

The Labour Party in Anambra State has concluded its primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections, producing candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives.

In a statement issued in Awka on Thursday, the State Chairman, Peter Okoye, said the exercise was conducted using the Option A4 voting system and recorded strong participation from members, delegates, aspirants and other stakeholders.

He described the process as peaceful, transparent and in line with the party’s commitment to internal democracy and grassroots involvement. Okoye also assured the candidates of full party support to ensure victory in the 2027 polls.

According to him, the nominees were duly ratified at a special congress conducted in line with the Labour Party Constitution, the Electoral Act 2026 and the party’s electoral guidelines.

The candidates include Venerable Tochukwu Ikezue for Anambra Central Senatorial District,
