Oyebamiji, APC challenge Adeleke’s re-election victory at Osun election tribunal

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election before the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo, where the petitions have now been posted on the tribunal’s notice board.

The notices were displayed on Monday, September 7, fulfilling an earlier confirmation by the tribunal secretary, Pefe Belemore, that they would be posted before noon as secretariat staff prepared the courtroom for upcoming sittings.

Two separate petitions contest the outcome of the August 15 election that returned Adeleke for a second term. 

The first, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was instituted by the APC and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, naming Adeleke, the Accord Party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission as respondents. 

The second petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola against Adeleke, INEC, and the Accord Party.

Posting these petitions is a standard procedural step before the parties are formally served and substantive hearings commence. 

Adeleke remains the recognized winner of the election, as the specific grounds for the petitions have yet to be disclosed and the tribunal has not issued any ruling.

Recall that Oyebamiji had earlier congratulated Adeleke while suing for peace and calm.
