The youth of Owu Kingdom have scheduled a landmark three-in-one celebration for Monday, October 20, 2025, under the leadership of His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo, Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu.
The event, orchestrated by the Owu Youth Forum, will feature the Woro Horse-Ride Procession, a Youth Symposium, and the Night of Icons.
These programs are designed to strengthen intergenerational bonds, promote cultural heritage, and empower young people throughout the kingdom.
The day’s activities will commence at noon with the Woro Horse-Ride Procession of Major Townships. Representatives from Owu communities will ride through the city in a traditional homage to the Olowu, officially marking the start of the week-long cultural festival.
The second event, a symposium themed “From Roots to Rise” and sub-titled “The Role of Youth in Development,” will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Olowu’s Palace. This forum is intended to gather youths, elders, and distinguished guests for a vital discussion on the role of young people in social, economic, and cultural development within the Owu Kingdom and beyond.
The highlight of the day will be the Night of Icons (Asale Awon Akoni), scheduled for Oba Odeleye Park, Ori-Omi, Sokori, Abeokuta. This evening event will feature live performances, robust networking sessions, valuable mentorship opportunities, and an awards ceremony. The awards will recognize outstanding Owu sons and daughters alongside emerging young leaders.
Speaking on behalf of the Owu Youth Forum, Pioneer President Hon. Olawale Olajumoke stated that the initiative directly reflects the Olowu’s vision to unite generations and inspire progress within the kingdom.
“This is more than a celebration, it’s a movement of connection, learning, and legacy. Together, we will ride, learn, connect, and rise,” he affirmed.
