Osun State Government has appealed to tourists visiting its heritage and leisure attractions to conduct themselves in ways that preserve the sanctity of the sites.

Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Abiodun Ojo, made the call during the unveiling of the programme for the first Osun Extravaganza and Mega Expo, a week-long cultural showcase scheduled for Osogbo, the state capital.

Ojo stressed that visitors should pay for services provided at the tourist centres, explaining that the revenue is vital for maintaining and upgrading facilities across the state.

He noted that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration has prioritised improving tourism infrastructure, a commitment that requires the support and cooperation of all visitors.

The commissioner invited tourism operators, hospitality brands, travel agencies, cultural organisations, technology innovators, and creatives from across Africa to take part in the expo.

He outlined activities such as drawing, painting, dance and fashion competitions, debate sessions, a cycling tourism challenge, historical tours of the state, corporate business presentations, and culinary training workshops.

Ojo added that the events were designed to appeal to a wide range of participants and coincide with the grand finale of the annual Osun-Osogbo Cultural Festival, drawing local and international attention to the state’s rich cultural heritage.
