The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) to investigate the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Ibukun Fadipe, over an alleged conspiracy to incite violence.
In a statement released on Sunday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC accused Fadipe of mobilizing and funding political hoodlums to disrupt the governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
According to the opposition party, Fadipe recently convened a clandestine meeting where several suspected cult members and local enforcers were allegedly provided with substantial cash sums specifically for the procurement of arms and ammunition.
The APC claimed that the coordination of these elements was handled by high-ranking associates, including a member of the State House of Assembly.
The party further linked a recent outbreak of violence in Ede—where thugs allegedly attacked APC members during a shopping complex flag-off to this purported mobilization, suggesting that the governing administration is preparing the ground for widespread electoral intimidation.
Beyond the immediate election concerns, the APC is also demanding the reopening of a 2010 murder case involving the death of the former DHL Chairman and prominent political chieftain, Otunba Raheem Ade Komolafe.
The party alleged that Komolafe died from injuries sustained during an assault led by Fadipe during his tenure as a local government chairman.
While Fadipe was previously arraigned for the incident, the APC contends that the case was suppressed due to political interference and has called for a fresh probe into the circumstances that led to the collapse of the prosecution.
The statement further alleged that certain government documents, including international passport records, may have been manipulated to shield the SUBEB chairman from past legal consequences.
The APC argued that these developments indicate a desperate attempt by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to retain power through coercion as its public support wanes. Consequently, the party urged national security agencies to act decisively to prevent Osun State from plunging into violence, ensuring the upcoming polls remain peaceful and transparent.
