The Ooni of Ife and Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has commended Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, for his reform-oriented leadership and efforts to reposition the state as an agricultural and economic powerhouse.
The monarch made the remarks on Friday during a private meeting with Governor Zulum at the Government House in Maiduguri, coinciding with the combined convocation ceremony of the state-owned Kashim Ibrahim University.
According to the Ooni, Borno State has vast arable land and the potential to become a major food basket for Nigeria if its resources are effectively harnessed.
He praised Governor Zulum for his commitment to reconstruction, food security, and development despite the challenges posed by years of insecurity.
“I like what you are doing, and I am very proud of you. I have been a fan of yours for a long time. You are a role model to many young people in this country,” the Ooni said, highlighting the governor’s hands-on leadership style and resilience.
The Ooni also expressed his readiness to attract investors to Borno State, emphasizing that the state’s fertile land and improving security situation offer strong opportunities for agriculture, agribusiness, and broader economic growth.
