Former Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Dame Julie Okah-Donli, has paid tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a principled and disciplined leader who meant well for Nigeria.

In a condolence message issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Okah-Donli remembered Buhari as a statesman who served the nation with integrity, both as a military ruler and a democratically elected president.

“President Buhari was a man of deep conviction, disciplined leadership, and enduring integrity. His efforts in the fight against corruption and in strengthening democratic institutions marked a significant chapter in Nigeria’s history,” she said.

Reflecting on her time as NAPTIP DG from 2017 to 2020, she expressed gratitude for Buhari’s support in combating human trafficking and promoting justice for vulnerable groups.

“I recall with gratitude the consistent backing we received during his tenure, especially in promoting justice for the vulnerable and the exploited,” she noted.

Okah-Donli, who also served as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking, extended heartfelt condolences to the Buhari family, the Federal Government, and Nigerians at large.

“May Allah forgive his shortcomings, overlook his imperfections, and reward his service to humanity and to our great nation. May the Most Merciful grant him eternal peace. Ameen,” she added.
