Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday administered the oath of office to a new set of commissioners, reiterating his administration’s resolve to uphold transparency, accountability, and excellence in public service.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the International Centre for Culture and Events (The Dome), Akure, was described by the governor as “a significant milestone in the journey to building a greater Ondo State.”

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Governor Aiyedatiwa called on the commissioners to embrace their roles with urgency and purpose, noting that the expectations of the electorate are substantial.

“The people of Ondo State expect nothing but the best from us, having entrusted us with an overwhelming mandate. We must strive to deliver on all our electioneering promises,” the governor stated.

Governor Aiyedatiwa explained that the delay in the appointment of commissioners was intentional, aimed at ensuring a measured and steady approach to governance.

“This principle reflects the importance of persistence, patience, and deliberate progress in achieving lasting results. Within the first 100 days of our administration, we have demonstrated that slow and steady wins the race,” he remarked.

The governor congratulated the newly appointed officials, describing them as individuals with “unassailable qualifications, impeccable track records, and commitment to public service.”

He encouraged them to carry out their duties with integrity and a strong sense of patriotism. “Adhere to due process and maintain collaborative working relationships within your respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies,” Aiyedatiwa advised.

He also cautioned their families and associates against seeking personal or sectional benefits, stressing that public service must remain focused on the collective good.

“Your loyalty must be to the people and the state. Resist any pressure that may compromise your dedication to service,” he said.

Governor Aiyedatiwa reminded the appointees to align their efforts with his administration’s seven-point development agenda (OUR EASE), which focuses on Economic Development, Food Security, Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Security, Youth Empowerment, and Social Welfare.

Commenting on his administration’s progress, the governor noted that various initiatives have been launched to improve infrastructure and enhance socio-economic welfare.

“We have commenced impactful projects and introduced welfare schemes that target the elderly, the underprivileged, and vulnerable citizens,” he stated.

On security, the governor reaffirmed his stance against criminality, referencing the recent approval of a bill introducing harsher penalties, including capital punishment for kidnapping.

“Our government remains firm in its commitment to securing the lives and property of our citizens,” he added.

Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in commissioners, Mr Omoyofunmi Segun expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve, pledging their collective dedication to the state’s development.

“We are honoured by the trust placed in us and assure the people of Ondo State of our commitment to diligent service,” he said.

The event was witnessed by an array of dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami, Wife of the Governor Mrs Esther Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt Hon Olamide Oladiji, Chief Judge of Ondo State Justice Olusegun Odusola, APC State Chairman Engr Ade Adetimehin, traditional rulers, labour leaders, and other notable personalities.
