The Ogun State Government has kicked-off the “Kick Against Dirtiness, Ogun State” (KADO) initiative in the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote environmental cleanliness and establish sustainable waste management practices within the council area.

According to officials, the move aims to address persistent sanitation challenges and improve overall hygiene standards across local communities.

Speaking with Nigerian NewsDirect, the project coordinator, Elhadji Hassan Jimoh, stated that KADO is designed to restore environmental order and instill a culture of proper waste disposal among residents.

Jimoh explained that the initiative involves strategic collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure long-term impact.

The program has already received formal approval from the Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Honourable Olarenwaju Oresanya, as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Waste Management and Chairman of the Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), Hon. Faruq Akintunde.

In execution, KADO will work in synergy with OGWAMA to strengthen waste management systems and enhance state revenue through structured sanitation practices.

Beyond waste collection, the initiative will address broader environmental disorders, including the presence of beggars on major roads, illegal parking on federal and state highways, and the prevalence of street hawking and illegal trading.

“KADO is designed to complement the efforts of OGWAMA by ensuring cleaner communities, decongesting our roads, and boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.”

“Ultimately, the goal is to ensure that residents of Ogun State enjoy a healthier, safer, and more sustainable environment,”Jimoh said.

Also speaking, the State Chairman of ROMO, Alhaji Chief Abdulrazaq Shotayo (popularly known as Sholebo), expressed his support for the initiative, noting that it would lead to a more organized environment in Ado-Ota.

Authorities are urging residents of Ado-Odo Ota to cooperate with the new measures and embrace the initiative as a collective effort toward maintaining a cleaner and healthier local government area.
