A Lagos-based youth group, the Assembly of Lagos Youths, has condemned the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, for claiming he remains the Speaker despite his removal.

The group described Obasa’s statement as a careless and treasonable felony, noting that it constitutes an invitation to anarchy.

Convener of the Assembly of Lagos Youths, Comrade Lasisi Robert said, “Mudashiru Obasa stands impeached and is not going back. He is no longer the speaker of Lagos State.”

Robert emphasised that Obasa’s removal was constitutional, citing Section 92 of the Constitution, which outlines the process for removing a Speaker.

The group urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to beef up security around the Lagos State House of Assembly to prevent anarchy and a breakdown of law and order.

Robert stated, “We are calling on the Executive Governor of Lagos State as the Chief Security Officer of the State to beef up security around the Lagos State House of Assembly as anarchy looms in the State.”
