Osun voters protest single polling booth at Owode Village II

Voters at Owode Village II, Ward 8, Polling Unit 09, Ilesha Garage, Osogbo, have expressed disappointment over what they described as inadequate voting facilities during the Osun State governorship election.

The voters complained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) provided only one polling booth for a large crowd of registered voters, raising concerns over delays and difficulties during the exercise.

According to voters at the unit, approximately 1,295 people are registered to vote there, making a single booth insufficient to serve the crowd.

Expressing frustration, one voter said, “We have 1,295 voters here, and INEC brought just one polling booth. How can one booth serve this number of people?”

Another voter called for urgent intervention, warning that the arrangement could cause unnecessary delays and discourage people from exercising their civic right.

“We have been standing here for a long time, and the crowd is very large. They should have provided more polling booths to accommodate everyone,” the voter stated.

Voters also raised concerns about security, noting that only a single police officer was deployed to manage the large gathering.

The situation caused widespread frustration, prompting several voters to call on INEC to improve logistics and deploy additional facilities where necessary.

As voting continues, electorate members hope the exercise remains peaceful and orderly despite the initial challenges.

The complaints underscore the necessity of providing adequate personnel, voting materials, and facilities at polling units especially in densely populated areas to guarantee a smooth and credible electoral process.
