The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has dismissed claims of endorsing a governorship aspirant ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that no official backing has been given to any candidate.

State Chairman of the party, Hon. Adamu Bako Ningha, addressed the issue on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ forum in Lafia, describing the allegations as baseless and misleading.

His clarification followed protests by a group known as the Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP Forum, Nasarawa South, who alleged that a July 10 meeting at the residence of the party’s North Central Zonal Secretary, Mr. Francis Orogu, was used to secretly endorse a particular aspirant.

While confirming that such a meeting took place, Ningha stressed it was a private gathering and not an official PDP function. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy and equal opportunity for all aspirants.

In response to calls for disciplinary action, Ningha defended Orogu, stating that “hosting or attending a zonal meeting in your community is not a crime.”

Orogu also rejected the claims, urging party members to focus on unity and reconciliation. “PDP is home for all lovers of democracy. We welcome anyone willing to return,” he said.

Both leaders emphasized the need for dialogue and cohesion as the party positions itself for the 2027 general elections.
