The Obidient Movement Worldwide has dismissed reports of an alleged rift between Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and the party’s Acting National Chairman, Senator Nenadi Usman.
National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, described the speculations as unfounded and the handiwork of political propagandists bent on creating division within the party’s ranks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Dr. Tanko clarified that Obi remains a loyal and committed member of the Labour Party under the leadership of Senator Usman. He explained that Obi’s recent attendance at the party’s gubernatorial campaign flag-off in Anambra State was a reflection of his continued support for the party’s candidates.
“His Excellency, Peter Obi, has consistently affirmed his loyalty to the Labour Party led by Senator Nenadi Usman. He has also shown unwavering support for candidates who emerged through the party’s democratic process,” Tanko said.
He dismissed rumours that Obi had betrayed the party leadership, describing them as baseless narratives driven by opposition forces.
“The claim that Peter Obi has fallen out with Senator Usman is completely false. It’s part of a deliberate campaign to sow discord and distract from our goals,” he added.
Dr. Tanko also noted that Senator Usman and other stakeholders within the movement were fully aware of Obi’s support for Dr. George Moghalu, the LP’s governorship candidate for Anambra, and endorsed his involvement in the campaign.
“Let’s not forget that Peter Obi is a man of integrity. His decision to support Dr. Moghalu reflects his commitment to the party and its values,” Tanko said.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumours and remain focused on the broader mission of building a united Labour Party and a better Nigeria.
“Our goal remains clear: to strengthen the Labour Party, advance the Obidient Movement, and build a prosperous future for our nation. That, we shall achieve,” he affirmed.
