Man, 28, docked over alleged theft

A 28-year-old man, Shegira Abubakar, on Friday appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo for allegedly stealing iron rods and a generator tank.
Abubakar, whose address was not provided is facing a one-count charge bordering on stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Ojo Adewusi told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Aug. 28 at about 06:20a.m at Oke-Olodo street, Ogunmakin Town, Owode – Egba in Abeokuta.
Adewusi alleged that Abubakar broke into the shop of the complainant, Mr Adam Olatunji, and stole some iron rods and a generator tank valued at N105,000.
The prosecutor said that Abubakar was apprehended with the aid of a CCTV footage and identification by Olatunji’s apprentice.
According to him, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs R.A Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety who must be a registered bondsman with the Ogun State Judiciary.
Lawal ordered that Abubakar be remanded at the Oba Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
She adjourned the case until Sept. 10 for hearing.
