A lotto merchant, Ogunniyi Daniel, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo over an alleged N200,000 theft.
Daniel, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of stealing and damage to property.
The prosecutor, ASP Ojo Adewusi told the court that the defendant committed the offence between June and October at Mile 2, Abeokuta.
Adewusi alleged that Daniel, who was employed as a lotto merchant, fraudulently converted the sum of N200,000 belonging to the complainant Mr Olukunle Ogunwale for his personal use.
He further stated that Daniel also damaged the lotto machine valued at N100,000, property belonging to the complainant.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 383(1), 390 (6) and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs R.A Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N150,000 with one surety who must be a registered bondsman with the Ogun State Judiciary.
