Police on Thursday arraigned three men before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo over alleged house-breaking and theft of valuables worth N4.1 million.

The ​‌‌⁠⁠⁠‍⁠⁠‍​‌​⁠​‍‍‌‌​defendants-Hassan Adeboye, 28; Mohammed Abdulahi, 20; and Dahiru Musa 21,whose house addresses were not provided, are facing alleged four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, burglary, stealing and malicious damage to property.

They, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Opeyemi Lawal, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 26 at about 2:00 pm at Ilugun Area, Abeokuta.

Lawal alleged that the first defendant, Adeboye broke into the house of the complainant, Mr Famayowa Oluwamayowa, with intent to commit felony.

He further told the court that Adeboye allegedly stole electric wires valued at N3.5 million, a washing machine valued at N300,000, a pumping machine valued at N210,000 and a microwave valued at N150,000.

He further alleged that Adeboye also damaged the POP ceiling design valued at N500,000.

The prosecutor alleged that the stolen items were valued at N4.1 million.

Lawal further alleged that the second and third defendants received the stolen items from Adeboye, knowing they were stolen property.

According to him, Adeboye was apprehended by security guards on duty and subsequently handed over to the police, leading to the arrest of the other defendants.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Section 390(9), 413 (1)(2), 427 and 451 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.

The Magistrate, Miss O.T Odubanjo, granted Adeboye bail in the sum of N1million, while Abdulahi and Musa were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Odubanjo said that the sureties must be bondsmen registered with the Ogun State Judiciary.

She ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Oba Correctional Centre pending the perfection of their bail conditions, and adjourned the case until Oct. 19 for hearing.
