Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing justice delivery and judicial reforms as the state judiciary marked the commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year.

Speaking at a special court session at the Kwara High Court in Ilorin, AbdulRazaq commended the judiciary for its unwavering dedication to upholding justice.

Represented by his deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, the governor highlighted the strong relationship between the executive and judicial arms, which had led to the seamless operation of the recently established small claims court.

He also noted that his administration had appointed 11 high court judges over the past five years and had administered the Oath of Office to the current chief judge and grand khadi.

AbdulRazaq reassured the public that judicial welfare would remain a priority for his administration, which is currently constructing a modern courthouse named after Kwara’s first Chief Judge, Justice Saidu Kawu.

“We are committed to strengthening the judiciary and ensuring access to justice across all levels of Kwara courts,” said the governor. “We will continue to support the judiciary to ensure smooth judicial reforms.”

Earlier, Kwara’s Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Adebara, expressed gratitude to AbdulRazaq for his support and reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to upholding justice. He noted that the ongoing construction of the new courthouse, which will feature ten courtrooms and chambers, would alleviate space constraints once completed.

Kwara’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ibrahim Suleiman, encouraged the chief judge to continue reforming the system to ensure the swift yet fair dispensation of justice. He also commended the judges for their dedication to dispensing justice impartially.
