The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) has unveiled a newly renovated library and resource centre at All Saints Primary School, Montgomery Road, Yaba, dedicated to the memory of two late education advocates.

The project was initiated by the family of the late Pa Abu Bakare Giwa and his son, Pa Abdul Lateef Giwa, in recognition of their longstanding dedication to promoting education at the community level.

During the commissioning and official handover of the facility, Mrs Ladun Craig, daughter of Pa Abu Bakare Giwa, described the initiative as a continuation of her father’s enduring legacy in education advocacy.

“My father held a deep conviction in the transformative power of education. He devoted his life to ensuring that every child, regardless of circumstance, had access to meaningful learning opportunities,” Craig said.

The refurbished library now features modern equipment and inclusive learning tools tailored to accommodate pupils with a range of learning needs.

In his remarks, LASUBEB Executive Chairman, Dr Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, commended the Giwa family for their generous contribution, describing it as a commendable example of how private individuals can contribute meaningfully to the public education sector.

“This goes beyond a physical upgrade; it represents a lasting symbol of commitment, compassion, and community development. It supports our broader goal of providing inclusive and accessible education across Lagos,” Shittu noted.

He reaffirmed the Board’s responsibility to ensure proper maintenance of the facility and called on other families, philanthropists, and education stakeholders to follow suit in supporting public schools across the state.
