Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commissioned Ishokan 106.7 FM, Nigeria’s first radio station established by a local government, alongside several other landmark projects in Mushin Local Government Area.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu performed the commissioning on Oliyide Street, Mushin. The event also featured the unveiling of newly constructed roads and market infrastructure initiated by the council chairman, Hon Emmanuel Olanrewaju Bamigboye.

Describing the radio station as an innovative and commendable development, the governor encouraged other local government authorities to take a cue from Mushin’s efforts in expanding public infrastructure and enhancing civic communication.

“It is always important to stay connected with our people. This radio station and the other projects here represent progress that even some states have not yet achieved. The chairman deserves praise for his commitment to development,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The governor referenced ongoing reforms spearheaded by the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Lagos State, and encouraged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in preparation for upcoming elections.

“Our nation’s prosperity is tied to the reforms introduced by President Tinubu. We must all be prepared to defend and support his mandate,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, revealed that voter registration would commence next month. He appealed to Mushin residents to participate actively and ensure their contributions count towards the party’s 2027 electoral projections.

Former Senator Ganiyu Solomon and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde, commended the projects, noting that they reflect the priorities of the Lagos State THEMES Plus Agenda.

In his remarks, Hon Bamigboye called on residents to take responsibility for public amenities, maintaining that sustainable development is achievable when citizens act as guardians of community assets.

“Together, we will shape a Mushin that leads in innovation, inclusion, and long-term progress,” he said.
