Land dispute turns violent in Ogun as gunmen invade farmPeace was shattered in Aremu Village, Alabata, Ogun State, yesterday as a lingering land dispute erupted into violence, leaving several farm workers injured.

The incident occurred at a farm owned by Mr. Yusuf Adeleke, where a confrontation over land ownership reportedly escalated into an armed invasion.

Sources indicate the violence stems from a family feud between the farm owner and his uncle, Mr. Ibraheem Adeleke, involving allegations of land encroachment.

According to eyewitness accounts, a group of unidentified assailants armed with guns and cutlasses stormed the property, attacking workers and causing pandemonium.

While the exact number of casualties is yet to be confirmed, several workers reportedly sustained injuries during the attack.

Mr. Yusuf Adeleke is said to have narrowly escaped the scene unharmed. Witnesses reported that the attackers shouted threats during the invasion, claiming to act on behalf of Mr. Ibraheem Adeleke, though no direct link has been officially established by authorities.

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the incident. Police operatives have been deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent reprisals. While no arrests have been made as of the time of filing this report, investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

Community leaders have appealed for restraint, urging all parties to allow the law to take its course.
