A 50-year-old Lagos businessman, Oche Sunday Joseph, has been exposed for practicing homosexuality with his friend and co-workers. Oche Sunday, caught in the illicit sexual act with his friend, Babatunde Kej, at Sunny Villa Service Apartment Lekki Area of Lagos State has been at large since then.
A close family relation by the name Okefie described Sunday as a family man with a wife and 3 children; but blamed Sunday’s bisexual engagement on his wife. Oketie expressed his disapproval of the act and claims that Sunday’s wife Oche Queen encouraged her husband’s bisexuality to turn him against traditional norms and values.
In the same vein, another family member identified as Mr Otokpa accused Mrs Oche as the orchestrator who lured Sunday into queer sex so that Sunday could not have any reason to marry a second wife or have an interest in family traditions.
Same-sex relationships remain illegal in Nigeria under the Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of 2014 which criminalises any individual or couple caught in the conduct. Common law equally considers it taboo.
Other family members and community members condemned the unconstitutional sexual act and reported the escape of Sunday to the police, who, with other security operatives in Nigeria, have set up a manhunt for his arrest and persecution.
Upon further investigations, close relations revealed that Sunday, his wife, and children have abandoned their home and are nowhere to be found. The police and local security operatives promised to intensify their efforts on catching him and bringing him to justice.
