Kano Governor’s aide accuses Gwarzo of siphoning ₦308m

The Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Tsangaya Education, Sheikh Musa Falaki, has accused the former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, of allegedly siphoning ₦308 million meant for special prayers across the 44 local government areas of the state.
Falaki made the allegation in a video interview circulated by Hikima Radio.

According to him, the former leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano claimed that the 44 local government councils contributed ₦44 million monthly for seven months to sponsor special prayers.

He stated that under the arrangement, he and Sheikh Ibrahim Sheshi Maihula were supposed to coordinate the prayers; however, they were completely unaware that funds were allegedly being collected in their names.

Falaki alleged that neither he nor Sheikh Ibrahim Sheshi Maihula received any portion of the funds or conducted the prayers.

He explained that they only discovered money had allegedly been released in their names after they were invited for questioning by the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) during an ongoing investigation.

According to Falaki, it was during the anti-graft agency’s interrogation that they learned ₦44 million had been released monthly over a seven-month period, totaling ₦308 million.

He further alleged that since the clerics neither received the money nor organized the prayers, Gwarzo had siphoned the entire amount intended for the exercise.

Falaki also alleged that this issue forms part of a broader PCACC investigation, during which Gwarzo was reportedly asked to refund more than ₦700 million allegedly diverted from the treasuries of Kano State’s 44 local government councils.
Gwarzo had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
