Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has relieved the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Toyin Balogun, of her appointment and immediately replaced her with Faosat Sanni as part of a minor cabinet reshuffle.
The development was announced on Wednesday in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan.
According to the statement, Sanni, who was serving in the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.
“The governor has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle, which saw the redeployment of Faosat Sanni to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion. Sanni takes over from Toyin Balogun, who has been relieved of her appointment. The new redeployment takes immediate effect,” the statement said.
Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to Balogun for her service and contributions to the development of the state and wished her success in her future endeavours.
Sanni is returning to a ministry she previously headed between 2019 and 2023 before she was moved to the Ministry of Special Duties and later redeployed to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperative.
The latest cabinet adjustment comes barely a day after the governor forwarded the name of Olabode Ladipo, the Permanent Secretary, General Administration, to the Oyo State House of Assembly for confirmation as a commissioner.
Makinde also approved several key appointments, including Ifeoluwa Akande as Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee, Isola Adekunle as Executive Adviser on Intra-Party Affairs, and Oladejo Oladokun as a Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission.
According to a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, the appointments take effect from July 1, 2026.
The governor urged the appointees to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, loyalty and commitment as his administration continues efforts to strengthen governance and service delivery across the state.
