Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has declared that former President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure delivered more stability and better living conditions for Nigerians than those of late President Muhammadu Buhari and current President Bola Tinubu.

Speaking on Tuesday during an interview with Arise Television, the elder statesman highlighted that under Jonathan, inflation was lower, interest rates were manageable, and the naira maintained stronger value against the dollar.

He contrasted this with the economic hardships Nigerians face under Buhari and Tinubu, noting that prices of everyday goods have sharply risen.

He said: “If you look at Jonathan’s period, ask any Nigerian what they have been feeling since Buhari’s period to Bola Tinubu’s period.

“Check the economic indices interest rate, inflation, value of the naira who is happy now? Whether rich or poor, goods that used to cost N5,000 now cost N25,000. And yet they claim to be managing the economy.”

On speculation about a possible Jonathan bid in the 2027 election, George insisted that the former president would have a strong chance, citing his record as “much better than Buhari and Bola Tinubu combined.”

George added that Jonathan’s tenure stands out in economic management and citizen welfare, arguing that his legacy should guide voter choice in the next general election.
