The Plateau State Government has disassociated itself from a purported open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as mischievous and ill-motivated.
The letter, allegedly signed by one Sargwak Haruna under the name of a faceless group called “Plateau United Front (PUF),” was said to mislead the President and stir controversy over his planned visit to Plateau for the burial of the late mother of APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe.
Dr Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, stated on Tuesday that the letter does not reflect the views of the Governor, the state government, or patriotic Plateau citizens committed to peace and unity.
“The tone, content, and spirit of the letter betray the desperation of its sponsors and fall far below the civil and respectful manner in which Governor Mutfwang and his administration engage with the Presidency and other eminent citizens of our nation,” Bere said.
Bere reiterated that Governor Mutfwang has always acknowledged and appreciated the interventions of President Tinubu, the First Lady, and the Federal Government in addressing insecurity in Plateau State.
He described the letter as a “dead on arrival” attempt to sow discord between the President and the Governor.
The statement also called on the public to disregard the malicious letter and urged security agencies to investigate its authors and sponsors, ensuring they face the full force of the law.
Governor Mutfwang, Bere added, looks forward to welcoming President Tinubu to Plateau whenever he chooses to visit.
