Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has announced the Federal Government’s approval for the recruitment of 1,000 Forest Guards to bolster security in the state.
Governor Mutfwang disclosed this on Sunday during a Thanksgiving Service marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day at Our Lady of Fatima Cathedral, Jos.
He commended President Bola Tinubu for the approval, describing it as a “renewed determination” to tackle insecurity.
The Governor explained that the guards would enhance grassroots intelligence and secure ungoverned spaces, complementing ongoing military operations.
“Without the sacrifice of our Armed Forces, many of us would not be enjoying the peace we often take for granted,” Mutfwang noted, attributing the peaceful 2025 festive season to their dedication.
Stakeholders, including GOC 3 Division Major General Folusho Oyinlola and Catholic Archbishop Matthew Audu, used the occasion to call for continued support and prayers for the military.
