The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc (IBEDC) has appointed Mr. Deolu Ijose as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, following a reconstitution of the company's Board of Directors.

Ijose, who most recently served as Managing Director of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), succeeds Engr. Francis Agoha in the role.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan by the company's Coordinating Head of Corporate Services, Angela Olanrewaju.

According to the statement, Ijose brings not only broad sector experience to the role but also an insider's understanding of IBEDC's operations, having previously served as the company's Chief Commercial Officer, a background the board believes positions him well to steer the organisation through its next phase of growth and transformation.

The board expressed confidence in the new CEO's capacity to consolidate on existing gains while driving measurable performance improvements across the business.

Speaking on his appointment, Ijose said he was honoured to be taking the helm at a critical time for the company.

"We will build on the foundation already in place by prioritising operational efficiency, strengthening commercial discipline, and delivering improved service to our customers. Our success will be driven by teamwork, accountability, and a shared commitment to excellence," he said.

IBEDC, in the same statement, reaffirmed its commitment to improving electricity supply, deepening stakeholder collaboration, investing in infrastructure, and leveraging technology to enhance the customer experience.

"The company is well-positioned to accelerate progress and deliver greater value to customers, stakeholders, and the Nigerian economy," the statement added.
