FG establishes 41 CNG conversion centers in Kano

The Federal Government has announced the establishment of 41 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle conversion centers in Kano state.

This initiative, a core component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s strategy to provide affordable and safe energy alternatives, aims to drastically reduce transportation costs and bolster national energy security.

During an inspection visit to the 12 Kakara Warehouse on Hadeja Road in Kano, Barrister Ismaeel Ahmed, the Executive Chairman and CEO of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG), confirmed the availability of over 3,500 conversion kits.

These kits, which include 30, 65, and 75-liter cylinders, are currently being distributed to accredited facilities across the state to ensure a rapid rollout of the program.

The approved centers, which include prominent firms such as Trade Source Integrated Concept, PKM Global Resource Ltd, and Safe Auto Gas Ltd, are already actively converting both vehicles and tricycles from petrol to CNG.

This shift is expected to provide immediate relief to Nigerians facing high transport fares while expanding access to more environmentally friendly fuel options.

The growing network of centers in Kano highlights a robust partnership between the government and the private sector, positioning the state as a leading example of success as the Pi-CNG initiative continues its nationwide expansion.
