Gov Sule renames Shendam Road in honour of late President Muhammadu Buhari

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has announced the renaming of the newly commissioned Shendam Road to Muhammadu Buhari Way, in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The dual carriageway, which was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu during his recent one-day visit to the state, is one of Nasarawa’s major infrastructure projects.

Governor Sule made the announcement during a special prayer session held in Lafia to honour the former president. He stated that the decision to rename the road was part of efforts to immortalise Buhari and acknowledge his longstanding connection to Nasarawa.

“President Muhammadu Buhari regarded Nasarawa as his second home after Katsina. It is only right that we reciprocate his love and commitment to this state,” the governor said.

He added that an Executive Bill would be sent to the State House of Assembly to provide legal backing for the renaming of the road.

Governor Sule also expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the respect shown to his predecessor during the funeral rites, describing the level of honour accorded to Buhari as unprecedented.

“We thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the remarkable honour given to the former president. No former leader has received such support during his passing. From sending the Vice President to London to accompany the body, to personally receiving it in Katsina this was truly exceptional,” he said.

Speaking at the prayer session, former Nasarawa State Governor and ex-APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, praised Governor Sule for the initiative.

“This effort to immortalise the president through these prayers and the road naming is commendable. It is deeply appreciated not only by his family, but by all of us who admired and served under him,” Adamu said.

The event was also attended by traditional leaders, political associates, and community members who came together to pay tribute to the former president.
