Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has said the people of the state are united across political parties in their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda.

Governor Eno made the statement on Friday during a New Year homage visit to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, at his residence in Uyo.

He said the visit was to wish the Senate President well in the new year and to reaffirm Akwa Ibom’s support for the Tinubu administration.

According to the governor, Akwa Ibom people remain firmly behind President Tinubu and Senator Akpabio, despite political differences.

“We are holding the ground at home for you. Akwa Ibom is united for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and united for you, Chief Akpabio,” Eno said.

He disclosed that youths in the state recently organised a large rally to endorse President Tinubu, Senator Akpabio and his own administration, describing it as a sign of growing unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Eno also praised Akpabio for his New Year decision to withdraw all court cases against individuals who had defamed him, describing the move as a demonstration of strong leadership and character.

“Forgiveness is not for the weak but for the strong. It takes strength to rise above hurt and let go of the past,” the governor said, commending the Senate President for setting a good example.

In his response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio thanked Governor Eno for the visit and commended him for uniting the state behind President Tinubu.

He said the success of the President’s administration would translate into success for the entire country.

“We are supporting President Tinubu because if he succeeds, Nigeria succeeds. His reforms may be painful, but they are working,” Akpabio said.

He also praised Governor Eno’s performance in office, noting achievements in infrastructure development, human empowerment and peace across the state.

“I have seen joy on the faces of Akwa Ibom people. The unity and development you have brought to this state will benefit generations yet unborn,” Akpabio added.

Both leaders used the occasion to wish the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous new year, while reaffirming their shared commitment to national development and unity.
