Desmond Olusola Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has made a public appeal for forgiveness to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The actor-turned-politician sought to address any potential grievances while officially picking up his nomination form to seek re-election ahead of the 2027 polls.

Speaking to journalists, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as a compassionate leader of thought and noted that while he has not been explicitly told he caused any offense, he wanted to preemptively apologize for any perceived errors.

He expressed a desire for a second chance to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents.

Addressing reports of rejection by the Surulere Accountability Forum (SAF), Elliot dismissed the claims as political propaganda, asserting that he remains in good standing with the Community Development Association (CDA).

He defended his bid for a fourth term by emphasizing that legislative experience is a continuum that yields greater benefits for the community.

Elliot argued that ranking members in the legislature have access to more influential committees and resource allocations, such as jobs and infrastructure projects, compared to newcomers.

He cited Femi Gbajabiamila’s own career trajectory becoming Speaker in his fifth term as evidence that longevity in office is vital for political influence.

Looking toward the future, Elliot outlined his legislative agenda for a potential fourth term.

He plans to advocate for the establishment of an Institute of Legislative Studies to introduce younger students to the workings of the legislature.

Additionally, he intends to push for the Lagos State Orientation Agency, a body aimed at reinstating traditional morals, values, and culture into modern society.
