Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated his administration’s dedication to investing in education and youth empowerment as a primary method for curbing insecurity and driving sustainable regional growth.

The Governor made this known on Monday when he received the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mehmet Poroy, at the Government House in Yola.

During the meeting, Governor Fintiri expressed his gratitude to the Turkish government for its humanitarian support, particularly in providing food and non-food relief items to internally displaced persons (IDPs).

He also commended the growing partnership between Adamawa and Turkey within the academic sector, revealing that over 100 students from the state are currently excelling in Turkish universities.

Fintiri also announced plans to sponsor additional students and broaden access to skills acquisition programs to ensure the state’s youth remain competitive and gainfully employed.

The Governor also announced the establishment of the state’s School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which aims to equip young people with practical technical expertise.

He called for a stronger bilateral collaboration with Turkey to upgrade existing skill acquisition centers and create more robust development opportunities for the populace.

In his response, Ambassador Mehmet Poroy reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to assisting Nigeria in addressing its security challenges and supporting displaced communities.

He disclosed that the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) is preparing to open an office in Abuja to better coordinate vocational training and development projects nationwide.

The Ambassador also mentioned his recent visit to the Malkohi IDP camp, where he participated in the distribution of food aid to vulnerable families, emphasizing that Turkey remains a strategic partner in Nigeria’s journey toward stability.
