The Federal Government has taken another decisive step towards paperless governance, with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, assuring of full digitisation of documents and administrative processes in his office.
The assurance followed the official deployment of the 1-Government (1-Gov) Cloud Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) at the Office of the SGF, in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSIP 2025).
In a statement signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the SGF said the initiative underscored the commitment of his office to strengthening digital governance, efficiency and transparency across its operations.
The statement reads: “The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation is fully committed to the digitisation of records and administrative processes as a critical component of strengthening digital governance, enhancing operational efficiency and promoting transparency, in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSIP 2025).
“As the coordinating hub of government policies and programmes, the deployment of the Enterprise Content Management System will provide an efficient, secure and integrated platform for managing official records, workflows and inter-ministerial communications.
“This system will significantly improve timeliness, accuracy and the quality of decision-making while reducing delays associated with manual and paper-based processes.
“The transition to the 1-Government Cloud ECMS represents a major milestone in modernising government operations and repositioning the Office of the SGF to deliver on its mandate more effectively.”
The SGF gave the assurance at the flag-off ceremony of the ECMS in Abuja, which was performed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack.
Commending the SGF and his management team, the HCSF described the move as timely and strategic, noting that the growing demands of governance require digital solutions that can support speed, accuracy and accountability.
She stressed that the Office of the SGF, which coordinates Federal Executive Council (FEC) activities and maintains constant engagement with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), could no longer rely on paper-based systems to deliver effectively.
