The Annual Gas Turbine Asset Management Conference 2025, organised by Thomassen Energy and PE Energy, will be held from 23 to 24 June at the Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Themed “Unleashing Value: Innovative Asset Strategies for a Resilient African Economy,” the event will bring together industry leaders, engineers, energy professionals and policymakers to craft a smarter and more sustainable energy pathway for Nigeria and the continent at large.
Dr Daere Akobo, Chairman and Group CEO of PANA Holdings, stated, “We believe the future of Africa’s power lies not only in building new assets but in unlocking the full value of the ones we already have. This conference is our collective call to upgrade, innovate, and empower a continent ready to lead.”
As electricity demand continues to rise and gas turbine fleets age, the need for innovation in asset management has become urgent. The conference will bring attention to game-changing strategies for extending the lifespan of turbine infrastructure, accelerating digital integration, localising services and aligning with Africa’s wider energy transition.
Peter Stuttaford, Chief Executive Officer of Thomassen Energy, noted, “Asset management is no longer a background activity; it now sits at the core of Africa’s energy transformation. Alongside our partners at PE Energy, we are committed to delivering solutions that prolong turbine performance, cultivate local expertise and power a future that is both sustainable and self-reliant.”
The two-day event will include expert panels and thought leadership sessions examining the evolving role of gas turbines in Nigeria’s power landscape and across Africa. Engineers, operators and turbine professionals will benefit from practical, hands-on training in areas such as maintenance, technological upgrades and future-proof operations, with interactive workshops designed to close the industry’s skills gap.
Key agenda items will include: localising gas turbine services across Africa; performance optimisation and life extension; digital innovation and predictive maintenance; adapting to grid variability; relocation and rehabilitation of gas turbine assets; field services, repairs and maintenance; and exploring clean energy pathways for the continent.
The conference aims to establish actionable sub-themes and create a unified roadmap to advance gas turbine asset management across Africa.
Organisers describe the event not merely as a gathering, but as a turning point for the industry. Attendees are expected to leave with fresh insights, practical tools, meaningful partnerships and renewed determination to accelerate Africa’s energy transformation.
