The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has been named one of Nigeria’s top 10 universities in the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, marking a major milestone in the institution’s advancement and commitment to global sustainability goals.

The 2025 edition of the rankings assessed 2,526 universities across 130 countries and regions, measuring their progress toward the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among 36 Nigerian institutions that made the final list, FUNAAB placed 7th nationally, further establishing its reputation for academic excellence and social impact.

The University posted strong performances across several key SDGs. It ranked 2nd in Nigeria for SDG 4 (Quality Education), 3rd for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), 4th for SDG 13 (Climate Action), and 6th for SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Vice-Chancellor Professor Babatunde Kehinde congratulated the entire University community, describing the achievement as a reflection of the dedication and collaborative efforts of students, faculty, and staff.

“This recognition affirms our consistent commitment to excellence and sustainable development,” Professor Kehinde stated. “It is a shared success and a motivation to aim even higher in the years ahead.”

The ranking further reinforces FUNAAB’s role as a vital contributor to Nigeria’s higher education sector and a driver of impactful research, innovation, and policy engagement aligned with global development priorities.
