EPL: Haaland nets brace as Man United stumble 3-0 at Etihad

Manchester City emerged clear winners in the derby with a dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United at the Etihad on Sunday.

Phil Foden opened the scoring before Erling Haaland struck twice to seal the win. Foden gave City the breakthrough in the first half with a headed finish after clever build-up play, rewarding the hosts’ steady control of possession.

United tried to respond with occasional counterattacks but lacked precision in the final third and failed to test City’s goalkeeper consistently. The match turned decisively in the second half when Haaland, who had been a constant menace throughout, converted twice with his trademark movement and clinical finishing.

The Norway striker’s brace underlined a return to the lethal form that has made him one of Europe’s most feared forwards. New signing Gianluigi Donnarumma also impressed on his City debut, keeping a clean sheet with a string of smart saves.

United showed flashes of fight and had bright moments, but poor crosses and wasted chances meant they could not penetrate City’s defensive organisation. Manager Ruben Amorim’s side have now recorded just one win in four games, while Pep Guardiola’s men head into their next fixtures with momentum.
