Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Magaji, has called on Kwara United Football Club of Ilorin to elevate the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) into a feeder team for the club in order to strengthen synergy and talent development.
Magaji made this appeal while receiving members of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association, led by its State Chairman, Coach Tunde Sanni, during a courtesy visit following his reappointment as head of the commission.
He explained that transforming the academy into Kwara United’s feeder team would create a direct pathway for young players to progress into the main squad. “This will allow at least three players to move up to the senior team every year, since both Kwara United and KFA are owned and financed by the State Government,” he said.
Magaji praised the state chapter of the Nigerian Football Coaches Association for the visit and encouraged them to work closely with the government to advance football and other sports across Kwara.
Earlier, Coach Sanni, who also manages Kwara United, assured the commission chairman that the club would continue to justify the government’s investment in sports development. He affirmed that upgrading the academy into a feeder structure would enhance the growth of football in the state.
Sanni further noted that Magaji’s leadership had been instrumental in driving sports progress in Kwara, and encouraged him to sustain his support for Kwara United and other clubs whenever required. He stressed that the visit underscored the commitment of the football community to partner with the commission for the overall advancement of the game.
The technical officer of Kwara United also appealed to sports administrators and stakeholders to rally behind the team in its continental campaign, adding that such backing would greatly lift the morale of players and coaching staff.
