The Gender Based Violence (GBV) Taskforce of Ebonyi says it recorded 367 GBV cases and two deaths between January till date.

Mrs Faithvin Nwanchor, the State Coordinator of the agency, gave the figure in an interview with the newsmen on Wednesday in Abakaliki.

Nwanchor identified the reported GBV cases as physical assault, 68, sexual assault, 17, and 94 economic abuses.

Others are emotional abuse, 77, inheritance rights, 18, child abuse, 69, threat to life, 24, with two deaths.

“We recorded a total of 367 GBV cases from January to November with two deaths.

“The cases are sexual and gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices,” she said.

Nwanchor also Head of Department, Sexual Assaults and GBV Response of Ministry of Justice, said that there are plans to expand their services to primary and secondary schools and hard-to-reach grassroots areas through strategic initiatives.
