Dangote Cement Plc has announced the confirmation of Mr. Edward Imoedemhe as its substantive Company Secretary, effective July 1, 2025.
The company disclosed this in a formal notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) and other stakeholders over the weekend, noting that Mr. Imoedemhe’s appointment underscores the company’s confidence in his leadership and legal expertise.
Mr. Imoedemhe, a seasoned legal practitioner with over 27 years of experience, has built a distinguished career across multiple sectors, including manufacturing, telecommunications, oil and gas, and shipping.
His areas of expertise span company secretarial practice, contract management, corporate governance, business incorporation, dispute resolution, and international commercial transactions.
He has been an integral part of the Dangote Group, providing strategic legal and governance advisory support to executive management and boards across several subsidiaries.
Before his confirmation, Mr. Imoedemhe served as Acting Company Secretary and General Counsel of Dangote Cement since November 21, 2022, following his tenure as Deputy Company Secretary and Legal Adviser from June 29, 2018.
He also currently serves as Acting Company Secretary for Dangote Industries Limited and other companies within the Dangote Group.
A graduate of the University of Benin with a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree, where he received an excellence award from the Alumni Association, Mr. Imoedemhe also holds a Master’s degree in Maritime and Commercial Law from Lagos State University.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN), and the Society for Corporate Governance Nigeria.
Mr. Imoedemhe’s professional achievements have been recognised through his inclusion in the Legal 500 GC Powerlist for 2024 and 2025, highlighting his influence in the corporate legal sector.
Commenting on the appointment, Group Managing Director, Arvind Pathak, said the confirmation reflects the company’s trust in Mr. Imoedemhe’s leadership, governance expertise, and strategic acumen, which are expected to further strengthen Dangote Cement’s compliance framework and support its long-term growth objectives.
