A Cocoa farmer, Fasina Yusuf, has appeared before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court in Isabo over alleged N3.9 million fraud.
Yusuf, whose address was not provided is facing a one-count bordering on fraud.
The Prosecutor, Insp Opeyemi Lawal, who arraigned the defendant in court on Thursday, alleged he committed the offence between Dec. 18 2025 and Jan. 9 at Oke-Aregba Area, Abeokuta.
Lawal alleged that the defendant collected N3.9 million from the complainant, Mr Ogunyemi Idowu, to supply a truckload of cocoa, but failed to do so.
He said the defendant converted the money to his personal use.
“All efforts made by the complainant to get the cocoa or a refund proved abortive,” the prosecutor said.
Lawal said that the offences contravened sections 388(6) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Miss O.T Odubanjo granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum.
Odubanjo said that the surety must be a registered bondsman with the Ogun State Judiciary.
She ordered that Yusuf be remanded at the Oba Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail conditions.
She adjourned the case until Nov.9 for hearing.
