Trader jailed 3 months for swindling woman

A Magistrates’ Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 45-year-old trader, Barminas Thomas to three months imprisonment for swindling a woman of N52,000.
Magistrate Irene Pati sentenced Thomas after he guilty to cheating.
Pati gave the convict an option of N100,000 fine.
She also ordered him to pay N52,000 to the complainant, Kyenpiya Monday.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on Aug. 30 at the “A” Division police station by Monday.
Gokwat said Monday gave the convict N52,000 to help her secure accommodation but he converted the money to his personal use.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 322 of the Plateau Penal Code Law.
