Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, on Thursday described his private meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja as “productive,” emphasising that the discussions centred on the state of the nation and pressing national issues.
Obi disclosed the meeting in a post on his verified X handle, referring to Jonathan as his “elder brother, statesman, and leader.”
He wrote:“Today in Abuja, I met with my very dear elder brother, statesman, and leader, former President Goodluck Jonathan @GEJonathan. We had a fruitful closed-door meeting and discussed the state of our dear nation.”
Nigerian NewsDirect reports that the meeting comes amid growing speculation within political circles about the potential collaboration of Obi and Jonathan under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general election
