Brake failure causes multiple crash on Lagos-Badagry expressway

A multiple vehicle collision disrupted traffic on Thursday morning after a Mack truck reportedly suffered brake failure at First Gate inward Alakija. The truck, which reportedly lost control due to the mechanical fault, rammed into a Toyota Corolla and a commercial minibus, causing a temporary gridlock on the busy road.
Officials confirmed the incident, noting that despite the impact, no casualties were recorded. Traffic officials and emergency responders were deployed to the scene to manage the situation and clear the obstruction. A tow truck was subsequently mobilized to evacuate the affected vehicles.

Authorities were forced to divert traffic through the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) way to ease congestion, as the crash had slowed vehicle movement.

Traffic authorities have repeatedly stressed the need for routine vehicle maintenance, particularly for heavy-duty trucks. They warned that negligence in this regard continues to pose significant risks to road users.
