Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council in a move aimed at repositioning the state’s political structure ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

The statement was signed by the Secretary to the Borno State Government, Bukar Tijani.

According to the statement, the decision is intended to provide an enabling environment for members of the council who may wish to contest elective positions, thereby ensuring a level playing field and compliance with electoral guidelines.

Governor Zulum has directed all Commissioners to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to Permanent Secretaries on or before Friday, April 3, 2026, to ensure continuity in governance and prevent any administrative vacuum.

The dissolution marks a significant development in the state’s political landscape, as several cabinet members are expected to seek elective offices in the upcoming polls.

The Governor expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Commissioners for their dedication, commitment, and invaluable contributions to governance, noting that their efforts have played a key role in the delivery of services and developmental strides recorded across the state.

He further wished them success in their future endeavours while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to sustaining progress and stability in Borno State.
