…eulogises Late Pres.Buhari
President Bola Tinubu has paid glowing tributes to his predecessor, the late President Muhammadu Buhari urging political actors to practice Honourable politics and focus on results in governance.
Speaking on Monday at the launch of the biography of the late President, President Tinubu reflected on their shared political journey, declaring that the coalition they forged in 2014 has evolved into the fastest-growing political party in Africa.
President Tinubu, who spoke not just as a successor but as a brother and political partner, recalled the historic 2015 victory that unseated an incumbent president, noting that their collaboration proved that Nigeria could chart a new course through unity.
He urged the political class to emulate the late leader’s spirit of cooperation, stressing that nation-building demands responsible governance that transcends tribe, faith, or party lines.
“President Buhari understood that the contest ends when the oath begins. In his memory, let us keep our politics honourable and our governance focused on results,” Tinubu concluded.
“The coalition we built in 2014 is now the fastest-growing political party in Africa today. Its growth continues,” Tinubu stated.
“Our movement united diverse interests… reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape.”
He emphasized that the late former President left behind a reputation for a spartan lifestyle, believing that public office was a trust rather than a windfall.
According to Tinubu, the measure of Buhari’s leadership was not in the motorcades or offices held, but in the character that persisted after the sirens fell silent.
Highlighting the enduring pillars of Buhari’s legacy, Tinubu pointed to his predecessor’s humility, commitment to security, and foresight in infrastructure development.
He credited the late leader with laying a foundation for prosperity by investing in security platforms, modernising airports, and restoring critical railways and roads.
“He understood the importance of long-term thinking—constructing bridges, restoring railways, building roads while prioritising maintenance and sustainability,” Tinubu added.
The President also commended Buhari’s dedication to social justice, noting his belief in targeted investments to ensure the poor and vulnerable were not left behind.
Extending the nation’s condolences to the former First Lady, Her Excellency Aisha Buhari, and the entire family, Tinubu prayed for their comfort, assuring them that the Buhari name would continue to inspire noble service for generations.
